The Amana brand was introduced in 2014, selling packaged rice & pulses. Rice is ranked third among Kenya’s staple foods, and its rate of consumption has been growing rapidly over the past decade in tandem with economic growth, while pulses feature heavily in the Kenyan diet.
Under the Amana brand, Unga Ltd targets shoppers who prefer buying all their supplies in retail stores. Shoppers are looking for nutritious food that is clean, sorted, and affordable. There is an opportunity to build awareness of the brand and drive recruitment of new consumers through increased ATL & BTL campaigns.

The Re-Birth
Amana took a contemporary approach. It is informed by the new identity (logo) key elements. The new logo has a hidden meaning ‘—the brand you love’. This is espoused by the cursive ‘M’ character in the logotype. We outlined the ‘M’ character, to form unique linework that dovetails with a new brand motif that has a catchy look and feel. The Product Name and Descriptor are interned in an ellipse shape that infers from the old logo shape to create a connection with the legacy identity for retrospection.
Unga Limited is all set to hold a spectacular launch event for their rebranded Amana identity and product packs, slated for the 20th of July, 2023 (9a.m to 1p.m) at their PP&E at Commercial Street, Industrial Area, Nairobi. This launch will be instrumental in publicizing and creating awareness of the newly launched Amana products, value propositions, and brand promise.
